Diesel tank soil boring groundwater testing and field screening
Before diesel tank abandonment or removal
Diesel tank fuel removal
Tank Closure Assessment Reports
All test reports must be sent to the FDEP authorized County agency like DERM in Miami (Department of Environmental Response Management, Miami ), for example. If contamination was found during the testing, discharge reports must be sent to FDEP.
One important note is the following:
The local authorized County agency will make the decision on whether or not an underground diesel tank can be abandoned or has to be removed. If you can abandon, concrete will have to be poured into and around the existing diesel tank to seal it forever.
Replacement of existing underground diesel tanks with a new above or below ground diesel tank
As per the FDEP,above ground and below ground tanks must have high fuel and low fuel alarms, basin alarms, overfill containers, overspill containers and overfill protection devices. Remote monitoring systems like Veeder Root systems are recommended for underground tanks as well as above ground tanks. All add on tank components must be certified by FDEP. All underground tanks require monitoring wells. All tanks require FDEP and UL certification.
