NEW! DIESEL FUEL
LAB TESTING SERVICE
DIESEL FUEL POLISHING
Diesel tank soil boring groundwater testing and field screening
  1. Testing of groundwater and soil surrounding and under the diesel tank for soil contamination
  2. If test shows contamination, must have soil removed and it must be hauled away to a certified facility. If HAZMAT, then to a HAZMAT facility. If not, then to a NON-HAZMAT facility.
Before diesel tank abandonment or removal
  1. Vacuum out and clean tank and remove sludge, rust and grease as per FDEP and DERM requirements
  2. As per FDEP requirements, if sludge rust or grease exceeds 55 gallons, must test it and haul away to certified facility, HAZMAT or not depending upon what the test results were.
Diesel tank fuel removal
  1. Fuel must be removed from the diesel tank before abandoning or removing the tank. If contaminated, then must be hauled away to a HAZMAT facility or can be cleaned and reused.
Tank Closure Assessment Reports

All test reports must be sent to the FDEP authorized County agency like DERM in Miami (Department of Environmental Response Management, Miami ), for example. If contamination was found during the testing, discharge reports must be sent to FDEP.

One important note is the following:
The local authorized County agency will make the decision on whether or not an underground diesel tank can be abandoned or has to be removed. If you can abandon, concrete will have to be poured into and around the existing diesel tank to seal it forever.
Replacement of existing underground diesel tanks with a new above or below ground diesel tank

As per the FDEP,above ground and below ground tanks must have high fuel and low fuel alarms, basin alarms, overfill containers, overspill containers and overfill protection devices. Remote monitoring systems like Veeder Root systems are recommended for underground tanks as well as above ground tanks. All add on tank components must be certified by FDEP. All underground tanks require monitoring wells. All tanks require FDEP and UL certification.
